posted Jun 24, 2018, 6:16 PM by Neil Hammond

Good Afternoon Clarksdale Families,

Our final week of the year has arrived and we would like to take this time to thank all of our students, parents/families and staff for an outstanding year.  So much great learning both inside and outside the classroom, none of which would be possible without the partnership and teamwork of all of our school community.

We wish everyone a safe, happy and restful summer.

Last day of classes is Friday, June 29th, with early dismissal at 2:05pm.  Bus schedules will also be revised so will arriving at their afternoon stops 90 minutes early.

**Please remember that classes begin on TUESDAY, September 4th.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon

Thanks to all who have contributed already to our upcoming Staff Appreciation Luncheon which is taking place on Monday.  It is not too late:  if you would like to contribute either monetarily or with a food/drink item, please email  Thank you for ending our year on such a great note.

Marker Recycling

Spirit Leaders have collected the dried out markers throughout the year and have begun counting them. So far we have counted 600 markers to send to Crayola for recycling and we still have a second box to count! Thanks to all for supporting this valuable initiative!

Bee Stand news

3 / 4 FI and 4 FI would like to thank the Clarksdale community for "Beelieving" and supporting our passion to take action to help save the bees. We were buzzing when we did the math after our second bee stand sold out and we had reached our goal to sponsor a local beehive through HumbleBee in Hamilton. What an amazing community of learners! We are Clarksdale Proud!

Clarksdale gets ECO GOLD Certification.

Congratulations to all our students, staff and parents for their hard work in helping Clarksdale achieve this significant milestone.

This is a significant accomplishment that involves school-wide teamwork and leadership on the part of students, staff, and community members; energy conservation; waste minimization; school ground greening; environmental lessons and field trips directly connected to The Ontario Curriculum; and/or environmental stewardship projects and events. Congratulations to all!

Clarksdale Students inspire Land Acknowledgement at Burlington City Hall:

Students in Mme Dodgson’s class last year (grade 6s this year) wrote persuasive letters to encourage Burlington Mayor Goldring to share and post the First Nations Land Acknowledgement in recognition of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation.  Last Monday, our students and families were invited to City Hall to share in the raising of the First Nations Flag and to hear the Acknowledgement read for the very first time.  A very proud moment for our students --- and showed that student voice and perseverance can have a significant impact!  Well done!

End of Year Reminders:

Please remember to return all library books.  Also, please ask your child to bring home clothing and other personal items asap, so that they are not loaded down on the last day of school!

Lost and Found:

Please take a moment to check out the lost and found items outside the office.  Any items left on Friday will be donated.

Grade 6 Farewell Celebration:

A reminder to our grade 6 families that our farewell celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 27th at 9:30 am in the gym. We hope you all can join us to congratulate our Grade 6s and wish them well as they head off to new adventures!
