Happy Victoria Day Clarksdale Families!

We hope you had a wonderful long weekend, that your gardens are planted and that you enjoyed time with friends and family.

Here is What’s Going On In the Den this week:

A reminder for EQAO

Grade 3 students begin  EQAO on Wednesday.  Our grade 6 students will be writing next week.

Please note that we will not be able to call into classes during the testing, so please avoid scheduling any appointments or absences during these days.  Announcements will also take place later after second nutrition break during the testing weeks.

Also a reminder that clubs who normally use the library will be cancelled as the library will be in use for testing.

Jump Rope For Heart a big success!

Many thanks to all families for your support of our annual Jump Rope for Heart.  It was a beautiful afternoon, and the students enjoyed a fitness filled circuit of activities, with the added bonus of supporting an important cause.  Special thanks to Mrs. Whale who organized it and had it all run so smoothly!

Calling all Gardeners!

Spring is here and the gardens at Clarksdale need a little TLC.  We are looking for people to come out and help with clean-up on Wednesday, May 23rd at 6:00pm.

Want to help but not into gardening?  We could use donations of mulch (red), soil and plants (your choice, we will find a home for everything!).  Please drop off at Clarksdale by May 23rd.

Still want to help but not interested in lugging bags of soil or plants to Clarksdale?  Next time you are shopping at Holland Park Garden Gallery on Fairview St. you can donate your points to Clarksdale’s Grow for the Green account, just give them Clarkdale’s phone number (905) 335-5605.  Points earned can be applied to future purchases for the gardens.

If you are interested in helping with the clean-up, please contact Samantha Palmer at Samantha.Palmer19@gmail.com.

Hair Club

Grade 5 and 6 's interested in learning how to do French and other kinds of braids are meeting in Mrs. Scodeller 's room Thursday during first break.

Final Movie Night

Our final movie night will be on May 25th.  The movie will be students’ choice and we will announce the winner early this week.  Doors open at 6:30 and admission is $1.00.  A reminder that all students must be accompanied by an adult.  Hope to see you all there!

Fun Fair News:

Our Fun Fair is just a few weeks away!  June 12th is the date!  Watch for an important newsletter coming home this week with details of the big day.

A few reminders:  1)  We are still in need of a few coffee cans to help as ticket containers.  2) Our next planning meeting is on Thursday, May 24th at 7:15 in the staff room.

Last call for basket items for our class raffle baskets!

Kindergarten Information Night:

Do you have a child who will be starting JK next year or is new to SK?

If so, please join us for our Kindergarten Information night on Wednesday, May 30th, from 6:00-7:00pm.  You and your child will visit each classroom, will hear about Kindergarten “life” and will have a chance to meet our fabulous teachers.  Guests will also be joining us from Halton Health, our bus companies, the Burlington Public Library and members of our school council will be there to share information about their important work.  We hope you can join us!
