What's Going On In The Den - week of October 14th

Happy Thanksgiving Clarksdale Families,

We hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful long weekend with friends and family.

This week brings many activities, as we continue our learning together

Cross Country

Congratulations to the Cross Country team this year.  You did your best and it really showed!  We were so proud of your athleticism, teamwork and Clarksdale spirit! Thank you also to the parent volunteers who came and offered their time as well as the parents who came to cheer Clarksdale on.  Special thanks to coaches Ms. Parker, Mme Dodgson and Mme Clarke.

Election

The grade 4, 5 & 6 students will be taking part in Student Vote Canada this Wednesday, October 16th where they will be able vote for their Members of Parliament for this year’s federal election.  Results will be kept secret until the actual election is completed and then we can compare our results to those across the country!

CCAT Testing for Grade 4s.  All Grade 4 students will be participating in the Canadian Cognitive Abilities Test (CCAT) this week and next.  Dates are October 18th, 22nd and 24th.   Participating classes have received a letter outlining the details, so please take a moment to read further.

Clarksdale Pays It Forward

The Me2We club is excited to get started on our month's initiative - We Scare Hunger. More information to follow next week.

Movie Night:

Mark your calendars as our first Movie Night of the year is this Friday October 18th.  Doors open at 6:30 and the movie starts at 7:00pm. The movie is Toy Story 4 and is sure to be a favourite with our kids!

Darksdale is coming soon!

Please plan on joining us for our annual Darksdale celebration on Friday, October 25th.  Great family fun and games  --- come on out to Kingdom of Clarksdale and enjoy all the fun!  Watch for details coming this week!  Our next planning meeting is this Thursday at 7:00pm.  Volunteers always welcome!

Interview sign-ups

Many of you signed up for your child’s conference/interview while at the Open House last week.  If you have not yet signed up, please contact your child’s teacher to select a time that works for you.

Breakfast Club Reminder

Breakfast Club continues 8:40 in the gym on Fridays.  All students are welcome to join us for a healthy breakfast to start their day.  Please remind students to bring a water bottle as we continue to be eco-friendly. Bus students are welcome to partake as “Grab ‘n Go” as they arrive; however, we are having challenges with garbage being left on the blacktop in the mornings.  Please remind your children to help us take care of our school by putting their garbage in the appropriate bins.
