What is Going on in the Den - January 7 - 11

posted Jan 6, 2019, 11:01 AM by Neil Hammond

Happy New Year Clarksdale Families, Bonne année à tous!

We hope you enjoyed a restful holiday with family and friends and are energized and ready to go!  School resumes on Monday, January 7th at 9:15 am

Lots happening right away in the Den.

First, a special welcome back to Ms. Nalsok, who will be returning from maternity leave to our Special Education Resource team, partnering with Ms. Springmann.

Also, welcome back to Mme Clarke, who is returning to her grade 2 FI class.

Parent Reminders:

If you are driving your child to/from school, please drive slowly and be extra careful in the parking/kiss and ride area.  With the winter weather that is soon to return, visibility is limited and we want to ensure our children are safe as they move to and from school.

Also, a reminder that the bell rings at 9:15 and students are expected to enter the school on time and independently with their teachers.  Parents are asked to only enter/exit the school through the main entrance and are required to sign in at the office.  This step is to keep all children safe and we appreciate your support of this process.

Kindergarten registration is underway

Please check our website for details regarding registration.  If you have a child who will be 4 by December 2019, then you do need to register them for FDK.  Children already in JK do not need to register again.  Please ensure your child is registered as soon as possible, and no later than January 31, 2019.

Grade 2 French Immersion Registration

All students currently in grade 1 are eligible to register for Grade 2 French Immersion.  Please check the Halton website (hdsb.ca) for more information about the program.  Please note that there is a firm deadline of January 31st, 2019 for applications.

Breakfast Club Day Change:

Our breakfast club day is changing to Friday.  Students are invited to join us in the gym at 8:40 for breakfast.  Bus students are also welcome to “grab and go” as they arrive.  A healthy breakfast is proven to help concentration and learning and we appreciate our Breakfast Club volunteers for their hard work in providing this each week.  If you are able to help out (even one Friday a month, or with shopping or prep), please contact Kat Thistle at katthistle86@gmail.com

Council Reminders

Our first council meeting of the new Year is on Monday, January 14th at 7:00pm.  All are welcome

First fun fair planning meeting is on January 24th at 7:15 pm in the staff room

Flexible Thinkers Group

We are introducing an after-school Math support group for students in grade 3 or 4.  If you are interested in having your child participate, please contact Mr. Thompson at thompsonjr@hdsb.ca
